He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward S. and Evelyn Valley (Sweeney); his wife Lois Valley (Nelson); his son Richard Valley, Jr.; and his sister Barbara Marquis.
He is survived by: his children, Julie A. Litchfield (Mark) of Athol and Shawn E. Valley of Athol; his stepchildren, Lisa Ahlstrom of Petersham, Garrett Ahlstrom of New Hampshire and Brett Ahlstrom of Orange; his sisters, Linda Knapp (Donald) of Athol, Rachel Vitello (Peter) of Orange City, FL and Corrine Ramsey (Steve) of Alaska; his grandchildren, Erica Adams, Ian Adams, Jessica Valley, Jillian Valley and Jordan Valley; his great grandchild Derek of Khaelyn; his friends, Linda Chiasson, Bob Finn and John Jasins; and his former wife Ruby Stowell of Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to charity of one's choice.
