Mary Margaret (Baird) Saunders age 85 of Athol formerly of Littleton and Somerville passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare facility in Athol.
Mary was born in Fort Augustus, Prince Edward Island, Canada on February 21, 1933. The oldest daughter of the late Owen Michael and Marie (Trainor) Baird. She was married to the late Charles E. Saunders from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Canada
Mary was educated and raised in PEI, where she developed a strong work ethic and a love for music. Mary played the piano, guitar and loved to sing, often getting called upon to sing and perform for her Church and other local events. In 1963 Mary and her husband moved their family to Somerville Ma where she worked for Mt. Auburn Hospital for 25 plus years
Mary was the life of the party, ready to play the piano or guitar apon request or belt out her favorite song for everyone to enjoy. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, telling stories about growing up on the farm and her love for horses.
She is survived by her children, Pat Saunders and his wife Patti of No. Chelmsford, Gary Saunders and his wife Anne of Derry, NH, Michael Saunders of Everett and Kelly Palmacci and husband David of Athol. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and sister Bernadette Pike of Wakefield.
