He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald E. MacEwen and Doreen MacEwen (Manning); and his wife Penny MacEwen (Clifford). He is survived by: his children, Laurie Saisa (Phil) of Athol and Michael MacEwen of Rhode Island; his grandchildren, Ryley, Evan and Lucas; his stepchildren, Jay Lyskawa (Krystal), Jeff Lyskawa (Megan) and Nikki Lyskawa; his stepgrandchildren, Ava, Mia, Zoey and Zander; and his siblings, Matt MacEwen (Susan) of Athol, Paul MacEwen (Judy) of Athol, Brenda Popham (Mark) of Orange and Maureen Paradise (Louis) of Orange. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
