He was predeceased by: his son Neil Mitchell; his sister Jane Sampson; his granddaughter Gabrielle Longchamps; and his parents, Charles Mitchell and Reda Mitchell (Fifield).
He is survived by: his wife Sally Mitchell; his children, Chad Mitchell (Yuko) and Tobi Guinard (Ted); and his brother Joseph Mitchell (Janet). He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grand children, along with several nieces and nephews.
