He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary I. Emerson (Fields); his daughter Jennifer Adragna (Francisco) of Arlington; his granddaughter Jacqueline Adragna of Arlington; and his brother Paul Emerson (Mary Durham) of Groton.

It has been requested that memorial donations be made in Richard's name to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 or St. Agnes Church, 51 Medford St., Arlington, MA 02474.
