She was predeceased by: her husband Bernard C. Downing; her son Paul; and her sister Martha. She is survived by: her children, Thomas Downing (Helen) of Medford, Mary Downing of Brewster, Joan Ryan (Bob) of Sudbury, Karen O'Quinn of Waltham, Bill Downing (Carol) of Arlington and Robert Downing; and her siblings, Mary, Helen, Frank and Theresa. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
