He was predeceased by: his son David M. Silvernail; and his sister Norma Dolan (Silvernail). He is survived by: his sons, Michael A. Silvernail of Arlington, MA, Benjamin N. Silvernail (Tracey MacDonald) of Orrington, ME and Andrew K. Silvernail (Shelby) of Lake Forest, IL; and his grandchildren, Benjamin, Koster, Spencer, Alyssa, Molly and Emily. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
