He was predeceased by: his parents, William Burns and Marion Burns (Sweeney); and his siblings, Robert, William and Marie Brogan.
He is survived by: his wife Marguerite "Margie" (Irving); his children, Karen Mazukina (Edward "Ted") of Franklin, James Burns, Jr. (David "Dave" Schramm) of Boston, Maureen Callahan (Sean) of Hingham and Matthew Burns of Lincoln, RI.; his grandchildren, Emma, Hanna (Patrick Slason), Olivia, Keelyn, Avery, Ryane and Lauryn; his great grandchild Zoey Slason; and his brother John (Carol) of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren.
