He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret McGarry and John McGarry. He is survived by: his wife Penelope McGarry (Tanionos); his children, Melanie (Mark Cutler) of Andover and Mark (Elizabeth) of Boston; his siblings, Mary Joan (Michael Morris) of Andover, John McGarry (Patricia) of North Andover and David Chiriaco (Svenja) of Safety Harbor, FL; and his grandchildren, Emmie, Sophia Cutler, Mikael and Kieren McGarry. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews as well as a great grand nephew.
