He is survived by: his wife Viola "Vaia" Makiej (Basdanes); his siblings, Chester, Raymond Makiej and Julia; his sons, Walter, Jr. (Maura), Christopher Makiej (Presbytera Katerina) and John (Lynn); and his grandchildren, Paul of Lowell, Eliana, Nicholas Makiej of Dracut, Michael G. Makiej of Andover, John of Andover, Michael J. Makiej of Andover, Jack of Andover and William Makiej of Andover. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
