He is survived by: his wife Darla Samol Dusza; his daughters, Laura Dieni (Tony) and Lisa Russo (Richie); and his stepsons, Peter Harris (Gretchen) and Donald Samol.

In lieu of flowers, his wish would be for memorial contributions to be made to the Thomas O'Connor Animal Shelter in the name of his beloved dog Emily, his loyal companion on many outdoor adventures, to the Soldiers Home of Holyoke for their care and kindness during his residency there or to the Military Order of the Purple Heart of Western Mass 875.
