He is survived by: his wife Lilia Villota (Torres); his children, Liria Doris Freedman (Jonathan) of North Salem, NY, William Villota (Gwynne) of Washington, DC and Albert Villota (Pamela) of Glastonbury, CT; his brothers, Francisco Villota, Jr. (Maria) of Cali and Fernando Villota (Mabel) of Bogota, Colombia; and his grandchildren, Samantha, Alyssa, Daniella Freedman, Bryson, Jordan, Julia Villota, Kylan Villota Stradley, Alexander, Isabel Villota and Justin Reed Momah.

For these contributions to the community and more, Gustavo was inducted into the Suffield Soccer Club Hall of Fame in 2013. In 2020, during Suffield's 350th birthday celebration, he was honored as one of the heroes who made a significant contribution to the town for his founding of Suffield Travel Soccer.
