It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Athan Catjakis of Agawam, Massachusetts, born in Springfield, Massachusetts, who passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Christos Catjakis and Evangelia Catjakis (Dabakis); his grandson Louis A. Catjakis; and his siblings-in-law, Vasileos Pavloglou, George Liakopoulos (Dorothy), Peter Liakopoulos and Barbara Belanger (Donald).
He is survived by: his wife Helen K. Catjakis (Liakopoulos); his sons, Christopher C. Catjakis (Sue Ann) of Feeding Hills and Charles P. Catjakis (Gail) of Agawam; his grandchildren, Alyssa Chapdelaine (Brian), Nicholas Catjakis (Renee), Matthew Catjakis, Courtney O'Brien (Bill), Mackenzie Doyle (Zahra Swetz) and Taryn Toto (Joe); his great grandchildren, Noah, Harper, Isla, Lukas and Georgia; and his sister Evelyn Pavloglou. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family.
His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 Saint George Road, Springfield, MA 01104 of the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield, 481 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
