It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John C. Tietgens (Adams, Massachusetts), born in North Adams, Massachusetts, who passed away on February 20, 2022, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter N. Tietgens and Catherine J. Tietgens (Vareski); his wife Ellen G. Shields; and his brother Peter Tietgens. He is survived by: his children, John C. Tietgens, Jr. (Heather-Lynn) of Stamford, VT, Joan Calvi (Bruce) of Clarksburg, Jane Sullivan of Stamford, VT and Jean Kurpiel (Michael) of Stamford, VT; his grandchildren, Bernard, Jeffrey Calvi, Jennifer Belisle, Justin, Jeremy Sullivan, Christa Marsh, Michael Kurpiel, Jr., Jessica Langenback, John Tietgens III, Jacob and Jillian Tietgens; his sister-in-law Anne Tietgens of Arizona; and his caregiver Stephen Chipchase. He is also survived by several nieces nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
It is requested that face masks be worn in the funeral home and in the church.
