He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Uhrig; his daughter Dr. Clara Williamson; and his siblings, Matthew, Douglas, Robert, Joseph and Margaret Enns. He is also survived by partners and spouses; thirteen nieces and nephews; and two grandnephews.

“I worked with Stephen at the Earthling Book Shop in Santa Barbara c1980. An elegant, thoughtful man. At one point he was living in a house on Pedragosa Street, on the upper east side of Santa Barbara. One cold night, to keep warn, we shared a bottle of Sloe gin and burned coverless paperbacks (aka "returns") in the fire place to keep warm. The irony that two (underfunded) booksellers would be staying warm in this blasphemous fashion was not lost on us. Fond memories indeed...”
