Hosea H. Meshell Obituary
Mr. Hosea Hilton Meshell, 101 of Zwolle, LA passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in Shreveport, LA. A funeral mass celebrating his long life will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zwolle, LA with Fr. Keith Garvin officiating; interment will follow in the Old Zwolle Cemetery.
A visitation for him will be begin on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Many Chapel from 11:00 AM-9:00 PM with a rosary starting at 6:30 PM. His visitation will continue on Tuesday morning, July 6, 2021 from 8:00 AM-11:00 AM. He was born June 13, 1920 in Sabine Parish, LA to Louise (Parrie) Meshell and Taylor Meshell.
Hosea made his living in the forestry industry from the time he left school in the 4th grade until he retired from Boise. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren; giving them "a little change" anytime he saw one of them. He loved to play his fiddle and dance any time he had the chance, doing his favorite dance, "The Twist".
In addition, he enjoyed attending mass regularly at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He will always be remembered by the five generation he left behind to carry on his legacy. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Taylor Meshell; his sons, Eugene Meshell and J. L. Meshell; his daughter, Marie Meshell; his 20 siblings; his two wives, Zula Parrie & Martha Jonelle Meshell; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, LeRoy Meshell & wife, Norma of Zwolle, LA and Tony Meshell & wife, Ruthie of Logansport, LA; his daughters, Margie Garcie of Zwolle, LA and Janie Laroux & husband, Huey of Zwolle, LA. He was also Blessed with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and he was awaiting the birth of his first great, great, great grandson.
In addition, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Joey Garcie, Justin Parrie, Clint Meshell, Taylor Bliss, Patrick Meshell, Dillon "BooBoo" Sepulvado, Ray Bliss, and JoJo Meshell. His grandsons will serve as his honorary pallbearers.
