He is survived by: his wife Glena Jo Chumney; his brother Tommy Bates; his children, Scooter Bates (Terri) of Killeen, Bubba Bates of Gatesville and Stacey Bates Tippit of Groesbeck; and his stepchildren, John Capella of Gatesville, Chad Horton of Riesel and Christie Horton of Hutto. He is also survived by eight grandkids.
