He was predeceased by: his parents, Lou Abshire and Susie Gallien Abshire; his siblings, Elzie Abshire, Oris Abshire and Naomi Abshire Hebert of Nunez; and also, Leeward Joseph and Anna Mae Bourque Robicheaux of New Iberia.
He is survived by: his children, Suzanne Abshire Whittenberg (Mike) of Youngsville, Russell J. Abshire (Mary) of El Campo and Catherine Boone Bourque (Albert) of Youngsville; his sister Chlorie Abshire Vincent of Nunez; and his spouse Anna Robicheaux Abshire. He is also survived by 18 Grandchildren: 23 Great-grand-children.
