Donald D. Gautreaux Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Donald D. Gautreaux (Youngsville, Louisiana), born in Opelousas, Louisiana, who passed away on July 18, 2018. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Lectors for the Mass will be Amanda Schmiedel, JoAnn "Sissy' Miller and Taylor Cupp. Giftbearers will be Liz Champagne and Laurie Martarona. Kevin Martin, Organist and Karen Melancon, Soloist, will perform, "On Eagles' Wings", "How Great Thou Art", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Amazing Grace" "J'irai La Voir Un Jour". Cherishing Donald's memory is his beloved wife and devoted companion of 25 years, Brenda Martin Gautreaux; one daughter, Nina Wills and her husband, Damian; one son, Allen David Gautreaux and his financee, Laurie Martarona; his mother, Barbara Hidalgo Gautreaux; two sisters, Karen Guidry and her husband, Pat, and Liz Champagne and her husband, Mickey; one brother, Dale Gautreaux and his wife, Naisa, and three grandchildren, Mikey Crowson, Peyton Wills and Emily Gil. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald J. "Sonny Boy" Gautreaux. Born in Opelousas and a resident of Youngsville for most of his life, Donald was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather and friend. Keeping with the Louisiana tradition, Donald absolutely loved Mardi Gras and was a true "Who Dat" for the New Orleans Saints! Every day was a Celebration and he enjoyed life to the fullest. A kind spirit and gentle heart, his true passion was his family and spending every minute with them, especially his grand babies, as they were the "apple of his eyes". He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. Donald's memory will not be forgotten. Honored to serve as Pallbearers will be Corey Gautreaux, Jimbo Miller, Aaron Moyer, David Langley, Damian Wills, Hunter Martin and Kevin Guidry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brad Breaux, Terry McFillen and Dale Gautreaux. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM and on Friday from 8 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
