He was predeceased by: his parents, David Nelams, Sr. and Barbara Ann Guidroz; his stepfather Archie Higginbotham; his siblings, Cathy Faul and Newton Nelams; his grandparents, Iris, Walter Guidry, Joseph Guidroz, Hazel and Emery Marks; and his stepgrandparents, Austin and Wilma Higginbotham.
He is survived by: his children, Jeremy John Nelams, Leah Rachelle Nelams, Noah Nelams, Jessica Lynn Nelams and Timothy Walter Nelams (Danielle); his fiancée Christine Savoie; his fiancée's children, Morgan Bourg (Jordan) and Derek Savoie; his siblings, Michelle Nelams, Dawn Bourg Crotwell, Amanda Bourque (Richard), Donna, Russell Nelams and Archie Higginbotham, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Tyler Nelams, Kailey Nelams, Devon Nelams, Vivianne Bourg, Meredith Bourg, Taysom Bourg, Latavia Landry, Alexia and Alese.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
