She was predeceased by: her parents, G. W. Johnston and Eleanor Womack Johnston; and her sisters, Rhonda Richardson and Carolyn Braud. She is survived by: her husband Gary Tanner; and her children, Christy, Casey Tanner and Celeste Spivey. She is also survived by three children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Geri's strength in life made her the foundation for her family, and her charm and quick wit made it impossible not to smile in her presence.
