We bid farewell to Nina Sue Underwood Simmons of Winnfield, Louisiana, born in Shreveport, Louisiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 4, 2024 at the age of 85. Nina touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clayton Garland Underwood and Nina Roberta Taylor Underwood; her in-laws, Kermit Carson and Mamie Mixon Simmons; her brother-in-law Harry Simmons; and her grandparents, Elmer Lamar and Maude Gates Taylor.
She is survived by: her husband Kermit M. Simmons; her children, Kermit M. Simmons Jr. of Winnfield, Susan Mador (Robert) of Oak Harbor, Wash and Alfred Simmons (Lesley) of Winnfield; her granddaughter Megan Geter (Jay) of Madison, Miss.; her children, Daniel Simmons, David Simmons and Micah Simmons; her great grandchild Olivia Geter; her brother Philip Underwood (Jerri Lynn) of Ruston; her sister-in-law Grace Simmons of Shreveport; her uncle Paul Underwood of Maurepas; her cousin Brittany Johnson; and also, Diane Heard, Jan Beville, Diane Holeman, Ellen Russell, Melissa Flurry and Jennifer Frederick. She is also survived by Several nieces, nephews.
She contracted Asian Flu during the pandemic of 1957-58, and vividly recalled hallucinating in the college infirmary.
Memorials are suggested to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, Samaritan's Purse, or any other children's charity.
