We are sad to announce that on April 11, 2025, at the age of 88, Joel Gaines of Westwego, Louisiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his son Marvin L. Gaines; his parents, Oscar Gaines and Annie Lee Hankerson; and his siblings, Jimmie, Willie Morris, Webster Hankerson, Winston Gaines and Shelia Westley.
He is survived by: his wife Marylee Thomas Gaines; his daughters, Phyllis Y. Gaines, Pamela G. Brown (James) and Paula M. Johnson (Dionell); and his siblings, Frank Gains, Catherine Sykes (Andrew), Anne Hankerson Murray, Jeanette Mack and Easter. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
