He was predeceased by : his parents, Basile McInnis (Linnie Smith) and Sister Pat McInnis; his son Gary Lynn Smith; and his granddaughter Contessa Cooper. He is survived by : his wife Peggy Smith of Westlake; his children, Keena Cooper of Westlake and Cary Smith (Bethany); his grandchildren, Brooklyn of Westlake, Drew of Westlake, Amber Palir (Kent) of Nashville, Tennessee and Suzzane Smith of Jennings, LA.; and his siblings, Jim Smith of Vidor, William Wayne Smith of Pinehurst, Kenneth Smith (Tammy) of Tarkenton, George Smith of Dallas and Becky Hamilton (Ronald) of Ragley. He is also survived by two great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Visitation was held on Saturday, June 8th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, June 9th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 9th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the First Pentecostal Church (1208 Sampson St, Westlake, LA 70669).
