He is survived by: his wife Susan Case Liggin; his children, Samuel Wallace Liggin, Jr. (Launa) and Catherine Liggin Becker (Daniel); his grandchildren, Kamryn Rose Liggin, Carson Gage Liggin, Emma Leigh Case Brown, Cora Ann Becker, Lilli Grace Becker and Nathan Curtis Becker; his sisters, Brenda Liggin-Viator and Dixie Foster Chapman (Richie); his mother-in-law Frances Clinton Case; and his pet Ruby. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
