He was predeceased by: his wife Jo Ann Rhodes Pickering; and his parents, Paul Pickering and Virginia Pickering. He is survived by: his children, Trey Pickering (Leslie) and Ginny Bonnette; his grandchildren, Blake Bonnette, Marli Chaffe (Harper), Lainy Jones, Jenna Jones and Isabella Bonnette; his brother Steve Pickering (Gail); and his siblings-in-law, Cathy Reed (Al), Ralph Rhodes and Steve Rhodes (Sherrie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
