With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John William Spurgeon of West Monroe, Louisiana, born in Chopin, Louisiana, who passed away on January 23, 2024 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elijah Curtis Spurgeon and Gladys Estelle Spurgeon; and his siblings, E. C. Spurgeon, Cecil Spurgeon, Lawrence Spurgeon, Alma Dubois and Bonnie Stalsby.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Spurgeon; his sons, John Damon Spurgeon and William Brandt Spurgeon (Bekah); his granddaughters, Miranda Spurgeon Beene (Andrew) and Madelyn Spurgeon; and his sisters, Bobbi Guin and Janice Jowers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
