He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Sims and Eunice Sims (Shirley Sims); and his siblings, Dub, Red Sims, Rhonda and Charlotte Rose.

He is survived by: his sons, James Dale, Steven Ray (Kathy), Ronald Wayne (Rachel) and Larry Glenn (Kathy); and his brother Scotty Sims. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
