He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard L. Cummings and Francine Sainlez Cummings; and his uncle Gilbert Sainlez. He is survived by: his wife Nancy J. Willis Cummings; his children, Jonathan R. Cummings (Leana) and Jessica N. Cummings Griggs (Robert); the mother of his children Myra Wright (Larry); his grandchildren, Grant Griggs, Ryana Cummings, Chloe Griggs, Spencer Cummings, Connor Cummings and Alden Griggs; his siblings, John Cummings, Danny Cummings, David Cummings (Cecile), Shirley Andrews (Charlie) and Mark Cummings (Laura); and his stepchildren, Kelly Rice, Michael Rice, Rusty Rice and Rebecca Rice. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
