He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Handel and Fannie Handel. He is survived by: his wife Sharol Blake Handel; his children, Sharolyn Handel of Shreveport, LA, Angela Handel Miller (Wayne) of Columbia, MD and Eddie Handel of West Monroe, LA.; and his grandson Nathan Miller of Columbia, MD..
