He was predeceased by: his wife Wanda Barkley; his grandson Joseph Ales II; his parents, Evelyn Barkley and Ruffie Barkley; and his brother Prentice Barkley.
He is survived by: his children, Craig Barkley, Laura Siemens (Kenneth), Pamela Burkett (Tony) and Ramona Ales (Joesph); and his grandchildren, Emily Featherstone, Erik Burkett, Elizabeth Collins, Ashley Bailes, Arlena Ales, Ja'Niaya Ales, Malaya Ales, Josiah Ales, Danny Siemens, Maxine Siemens, Alex Siemens and Savanna Prest. He is also survived by his family and his friends.
