She was predeceased by: her parents, William Broom and Nettie Broom; her brother Malvin Broom (Dottie); her former husband James Coates; her son Eugene Coates; her grandson Jeremy Coates; and her great grandchild Leo Coates.
She is survived by: her children, Cindy Coates and Kenny Coates; her daughter-in-law Diane Coates; and her grandchildren, Alecia Bryant (Chris), Kelly Petty (Joe), Angel Coates, Alexis Thomas (David), Ashley Stone (Shawn), Laila Coates, Kristopher Coates (Jasmine), Kameron Coates (Kasey) and Konnor Coates (Lanae). She is also survived by fifteen beautiful great-grandchildren.
