He is survived by: his sons, James Dennis Butler, Jr. (Leslie), Tony Garrard Butler, Sr. (Ella) and Jermaine Troy Butler (Maria); his sisters, Catherine Butler and Phyllis Butler Mercadel; his grandchildren, Dante Renee Butler, Jamari Semaj Butler and Tony Garrard Butler, Jr.; his nephew Jeffrey E. Charles; his great-nephews, Lance Cordoua, Jayson Anderson (Butta) and Jayden Charles; his nieces, Letreion Charles, Bethaney Charles and Ernisha Mercadel; his aunt Corine Howard; and his uncle Thomas J. Howard, Jr..
