He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. Bowman, Sr. and Irene Lemoine Bowman; his spouse Maizelle Bowman; his son Peter Dassau (Debbie); and his siblings, William Bowman, Jr., Mason Bowman, Oscar Bowman, Jesse Bowman, Mary Hooter, Cecile Dufour, Lena Dufour, Luby Mae Lemoine and Eva Bunch.

He is survived by: his children, Cherilyn Frught (Stephen), Sam Bowman, Jr. (Melissa), Jack Lafitte, Debra Smith (Walter), Evon Dassau (Joe), Paul Dassau and John Dassau (Melissa); and his grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Ashley, Lance, Nia, Walter, Darrell, Natasha, Christopher, Destiny, Heather and Jessica. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
