He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Simmons and Gertrude W. Simmons; and his child Deidre Simmons Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Jeannie Jackson Simmons; his children, Terrance (Margaret), Korak Simmons (April) and Ingrid Simmons Johnson (Richard); and his siblings, George Simmons Jr. (Rebecca), Groverine Simmons Jones (Willie B.) and Henrietta Simmons Thompson. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
