He was predeceased by: his wife Lou Ethel Johnson; and his great grandchild Christopher Johnson. He is survived by: his son Ricky Johnson (Becky) of Vinton; his grandchildren, Chad Johnson (Carol) and Ashley Laughlin (JD); his great grandchildren, Elliott Gibson and Jaclyn Laughlin; his siblings, Grady Johnson and Katherine LaBorde; and his uncle Drew. He is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews.
