He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Lavergne and Luday Soileau Lavergne. He is survived by: his children, Christy Pippins (Wesley) of Lafayette, Lynn Landreneau (Toby) of Ville Platte and Jared Lavergne (Dana) of Chataignier; his siblings, Steve Lavergne (Rudy) of Ville Platte and Veneda Hebert of Eunice; his grandchildren, John Pippins III (Amber), Sarah Pippins, Seth Manuel (Mayson), Brandy Manuel, Luke Landreneau, Jay Lavergne, Caroline Lavergne, Kourtney Lavergne, Kori Lavergne, Jax Lavergne and Karter Lavergne; his great grandchild Lane Manuel; his caregiver Candace Morein; his wife Linda Townsend Lavergne; his son John Joseph Lavergne; his siblings, Milton Lavergne Jr., Melvin Lavergne and Louanne Lavergne; and his nephew Jeff Lavergne.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. A rosary was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Calcutta House/Hospice of Acadiana in Sylvan's memory.
