He was predeceased by: his parents, Madge Holmes, and Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.; his wife Rosa "Rosie" Soileau Holmes; and his brother Wiliam "Bill" Holmes. He is survived by: his sister Brenda H. May; his siblings-in-law, Charles of Memphis, TN, Dale Reed of Ville Platte, LA and Brenda Wilks Holmes of Alexandria, LA.; his children, Madge H. Fontenot (Keith) of Nederland, TX, Deedra H. LaPlace (Lance) of Baton Rouge, Wendell Holmes of Baton Rouge, Boyd Holmes (Sandra) of Baton Rouge and Lowell Holmes (Baneza) of Las Vegas, NV.; his grandchildren, Ryan Fontenot, Amber Fontenot Oleksy, Sarah Fontenot Fox, Gavin LaPlace, Brooks LaPlace, Sterling Holmes Tamlyn, Hartman Holmes, London Holmes Miller, Ashton Holmes Williams, Arrington Holmes and Camden Holmes; and his great grandchildren, Sophie, Lexi, Nathaniel, Crockett, Maverick, Emmy, Chase, Henning and Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the LaVille Funeral Home (2353 E Main St, Ville Platte, LA 70586). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ville Platte, LA. (708 E Main St, Ville Platte, LA 70586).
