He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Ortego and Lydia Vidrine Ortego (Nettie Berzas Ortego); and his children, Herman Wayne Ortego, Joseph Randy Ortego and Sandra Ortego Dupre.
He is survived by: his daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Reed (Johnny) of Tate Cove, Veronica Granger (Steve) of Tate Cove, Sharon Soileau (Carl) of Ville Platte and Melissa Gaspard (Jeremy) of Abbeville; and his sisters, Dottie Loparo of Moreno Valley, CA and Jenny Tucker of Sulphur. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
