He was predeceased by: his parents, Elza Matte and Rosa Bell Matte; his son Samuel Matte; and his grandson Alex Cain Reed. He is survived by: his wife Runnie Fontenot Matte of Belaire Cove; his children, Raphael Matte (Charlene) of Belaire Cove and Jackie Reed (Francis) of Belaire Cove; his daughter-in-law Tammy Matte of Ville Platte; his siblings, James Patrick Matte of Church Point, Patty Jean Fontenot of Cankton and Brenda Gail Matte (Mike) of Church Point; and his grandchildren, Kristie Matte Vidrine, Jarred Matte, Brooks Lafleur, Clay Lafleur, Billi Matte Rider, Adrienne Matte Perrodin and Sarah Matte Lemoine. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
