He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Tate Sr. and Aline Guillory Tate; his wife Beatrice Stephenson Tate; his sons, John David Tate and Patrick Dale Tate; and his siblings, Douglas Tate, Edmond Tate, Leo Tate Jr., Belle Tate Fontenot, Annie Tate Richard, Ruby Tate Ortego and Winnie Tate Nicks.

He is survived by: his daughter Lynn Tate Delhomme; his grandson Arthur David Delhomme (Meghan Hagen Delhomme); and his great grandchildren, Jackson Tate Delhomme, Colton Wallace Delhomme and Charlotte Leeila Delhomme.
