He was predeceased by: his former wife Betty Day; his parents, Verl Day and Wilma Caldwell Day; his brother Gerald Arthur Day; and his son-in-law Jerry McLain.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Day; and his children, Verl Day, Jr., Patricia Joanne Day, Gerald Day, Sandra Day McLain and Sharon Louise McLaughin. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
