He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosa Newkirk and Frank Newkirk; his children, Donnell Owens and Teronda Morris; and his siblings, Betty Newkirk, Josephine Newkirk, Jerry Newkirk and Frank Newkirk, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Essie; his children, Terry Owens (Michell) of Kansas City, MO, Anthony Newkirk (Angela) of Katy, TX, Darren Newkirk (Demetria) of Carrolton, TX., Wanda Bridges (Luther) of Tylertown Mississippi, Lunelia Newkirk of Varnado, LA and Tomikia Newkirk of Atlanta, GA; his siblings, Willa Mae Walls, Dorothy Newkirk, Oscar Lee and James Earl Newkirk; his nephew Dr. Lesley McKinley; and his niece Sonya Pack. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and two faithful caregivers.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Crain and Sons Funeral Home (809 E 3rd St, Bogalusa, LA 70427). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 7th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church (63428 Par Rd 420, Angie, LA 70426).
