He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Mae Mitchell and Isaac Mitchell, Sr.; his siblings, Isaac Mitchell, Jr., Van Mitchell, Patricia Mitchell, Barbara M. Gordon and Jackie K. Gibson; his parents-in-law, Mary Jackson and Norris Collins, Sr.; and his grandchild Deja Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Lucy Collins Mitchell; his children, Ryan Lewis Douglas Fortune (Donna), Kevin Jackson, Cassandra Jackson, Anita Simoneaux (Hilray) and Rita Fortune; and his godchild Antonett Costly. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
