He was predeceased by: his father William Rankin; his daughter Elizabeth Ann Rankin; and his siblings, John Donald Rankin and Mary Ann Sagdhal. He is survived by: his former wife Ann Gilbert Rankin; his sons, John David Rankin (Cheryl) and Bro. Brian Rankin (Joy); his stepdaughters, Shannon Sanders, Shonda Sanders and Susan Sanders; and his grandchildren, Kristy Varner (Jason), Jamin Rankin (Carly), Emily Rankin, John Garrett Rankin, Jaden Sanders, Sierra Sanders, Duran Muniz, Shenaya Muniz, Jared Sanders, Shayna Sanders, Javad Woodward and Shamari Thomas. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous extended family.
