He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Anne Gillespie; his daughter Jennifer Gillette; his parents, Webster Gillespie and Elma Terrell Hammond; his stepfather Ted Hammond; and his siblings, Odell Gillespie and Bobbie Jean Hagland.

He is survived by: his daughters, Debbye Adkinson (Howard), Lisa Stephens, Bonnie Gillespie and Becky Gillespie Smith.
