With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Leonard Thomas Weems Sr. of Thibodaux, Louisiana, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on January 7, 2025 at the age of 75. Though Leonard Thomas may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Weems, Sr. and Geneva Belle Weems; and his siblings, Sidney Weems, Jr. and Donald Weems. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Sargent Weems; his children, Jharyd Sidney Weems, Lynette Are'on Weems, Psontia Sharae Fowler, Kimberly Latrice Weems-Thomas and Leonard Thomas Weems, Jr.; and his brother Earl Weems. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, in laws, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church (14221 Southfield Fwy, Detroit, MI 48223).
