He was predeceased by: his parents, Rollen Gersch and Wilton Gersch; and his brothers, William "Bill" Gersch and Glenn Gersch. He is survived by: his children, Charla Burchfield (Billy), Joe Gersch, Jr. (Connie) and Amanda DiZinno (John); his sister Gwen Bertone (Richard); his brother-in-law Jackie Purvis (Virginia); and his grandchildren, Brandon Burchfield (Laura Broussard), Heather Gersch (Brad Gersch), Kristin, Austin (Kyle Newman), Hayden (Anna), Sophie and Isabelle (Anthony DiZinno). He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
