Barlow Moten of Sunset, Louisiana, born in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, who passed away on February 21, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clamille Barlow and Philomena Charles; her children, Calvin Moten, Norma Moten Plumbar, Gladys Moten and Gloria Moten; her siblings, Joseph Barlow, Wilson Barlow, Ernest Barlow, Anthony Barlow, Wallace Barlow, Josephine Barlow Williams, Regina Barlow Pierre, Theresa Barlow Thomas and Lorena Barlow Brown; and her sons-in-law, Cleveland Reed, Jr. and Willie F. Broome.
She is survived by: her husband James Moten, Jr. of Sunset; her children, Edward Moten of Sunset, James Mouton, III (Shernika) of Opelousas, Irma Moten of Opelousas, Rachel Moten Reed of Grand Coteau, Linda Moten of Sunset and Joseph Bradley Woods of Opelousas; and her grandchildren, Demetris Moten and Chelsey Moten. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; as well as 25 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Melancon Funeral Home (289 Church St, Grand Coteau, LA 70541). A rosary will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (174 Church St, Grand Coteau, LA 70541).
