He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton McVay and Crittie McVay; his wife Estelle McVay; his close friend Virginia Schoolfield; and his siblings, Homer McVay, O'Neal McVay, Everett McVay, Grant McVay, Chalmos McVay, Curtis McVay, Lacy McVay, Tracy McVay, Ethel Spence, Rose Odom and Fann Meyer.
He is survived by: his children, Ronnie McVay, Annette Thornell (James), Kathy Powell (Mike) and Debbie Kirkland (Mike). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
